TULSA, Okla. — A community garden is in the works in north Tulsa to help give children a helpful new activity.
Tulsa organization "Not Forgotten Children is creating the garden near East 31st Street North and M.L.K. Boulevard on an acre of land.
The organization says its goal is to give children activities to do that aren’t sports-related.
Once the land is cleared, the space will allow for community members to come to learn about gardening and agriculture.
They’ll be offering free classes on how to properly garden and live a self-sustainable lifestyle.
Earl Stripling, who has been gardening in his own backyard for 11 years, will be in charge of the garden.
Organizers say they hope to have the land cleared by the end of 2020 to start putting the garden in place.
